Westminster Dog of the Year contest

Press Release from

Rt Hon Dame Cheryl Gillan MP

House of Commons, LONDON, SW1A 0AA

Date :  28 August 2019

The Rt Hon Dame Cheryl Gillan, MP for Chesham & Amersham, will be supporting responsible dog ownership when she joins other MPs and peers at Westminster on Thursday 5 September. It’s an event which was arranged well ahead of the present headlines but, in organising the Westminster Dog of the Year contest, the Kennel Club is calling attention to the perennial issue of dog welfare.

Find out more about the event, its aims and to hear Dame Cheryl’s concerns about dog welfare issues, please visit the Kennel Club website on https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/events/westminster-dog-of-the-year

In 2018 Dame Cheryl was accompanied by a Dogs Trust rescue dog, but this year her own pet puppy, Jimmi, who is coming up to six months old and very cute, will be one of the contestants. Jimmi stole everyone’s hearts at a constituency event earlier in the summer, so, if you too would like to root for Jimmi as Westminster Dog of the Year, there’s a link to an online poll on the Kennel Club website.
