WELSH PARTY CONFERENCE 3rd & 4th March 2007

The Welsh Party Conference was held at Glamorgan Cricket Club, Cardiff. As well as Cheryl’s opening keynote speech, other speakers included David Cameron, William Hague, Francis Maude, Nick Bourne AM, and Jonathan Evan MEP.

Cheryl's weekend began with a press conference at Glamorgan Cricket Club on Friday evening after which, Cheryl and her Westminster team headed to Jonathan Evans MEP’s reception before heading on to the pre-conference supper.

Saturday began with a Women2Win Wales breakfast in the hotel hosted by Cheryl.

Saturday’s conference was opened by Lyndon Jones, Chairman of the Welsh Conservative Party. Lyndon introduced Cheryl and her speech received rapturous applause and a standing ovation. Cheryl remained on the platform to listen to keynote speeches from William Hague, Francis Maud and Nick Bourne.

Cheryl chaired a fringe meeting with RSPB Cymru and the WI, which discussed growing concerns over climate change and its affect on the environment and women, particularly in developing countries.

Saturday evening was the Black Tie Dinner and Cheryl introduced the speaker for the evening, Michael Dobbs, former Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party and author of the House of Cards trilogy.

On Sunday, Cheryl supported her deputy, David I Jones (Clwyd West) during his keynote speech. Then the platform was cleared for David Cameron’s closing speech which was received extremely well by a packed congregation.
