RT HON DAME CHERYL GILLAN MP ATTENDS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CONFERENCE PRIOR TO LEADING COUNCIL OF EUROPE DELEGATION TO MONITOR BOSNIAN ELECTIONS

This week,(beginning 1st October), the Rt Hon Dame Cheryl Gillan MP is attending the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham, where she will be meeting up with the members of the Chesham & Amersham Conservative Association who are delegates at the conference.

Later in the week, Dame Cheryl goes on to lead an international delegation on behalf of the Council of Europe, to monitor the general elections in Bosnia. She will be presenting a report on the delegation’s findings to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

At the Party Conference, Dame Cheryl, who is an elected member of the Conservative Party Board, will be taking a full part both in the official conference events and the many ‘fringe’ events which take place alongside the debates. Dame Cheryl will also be visiting the conference stands of a whole raft of organisations which present their work to delegates at the conference.

Dame Cheryl will be taking part in a Westminster Foundation for Democracy workshop. She will also be a panel member putting forward her views at a meeting of the International Democrat Union. The discussion here is on “ IDU and Global Britain: way forward for stronger centre-right parties”. She will also be attending the International Heads of Missions reception at the conference.

“ Britain’s new role in Europe is obviously a key element internationally and I look forward to discussing this both with Conservative party members and visitors from outside the UK,” said Dame Cheryl from Birmingham today.

Dame Cheryl was the co-host of the Conservative Backbench 1922 committee reception on the first night of the conference, an important event at which the Prime Minister was the speaker.
