LORD ROBERTS ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

Lord Roberts of Conwy today announced his retirement from the opposition frontbench after an illustrious career at Westminster.

Lord Roberts was first elected to the House of Commons in 1970, and remained MP for Conwy until 1997 when he was raised to the peerage as Baron Roberts of Conwy, of Talyfan in the County of Gwynedd. In the House of Lords he has been an opposition spokesperson on Welsh Affairs for the past 10 years.
