Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan MP has urged residents to have their say in the Government’s consultation on Heathrow expansion which was launched on Thursday 2 February.
The 16-week consultation on the Government’s newly published draft National Policy Statement (NPS) on a third runway at Heathrow, is the first delivery milestone ahead of a Parliamentary vote at the end of the year.
Buckinghamshire’s close proximity to Heathrow means that almost 2,000 residents work at the airport, and has helped see 700 companies base their headquarters here. A third runway at Heathrow will not only create new jobs, it will support our exporters, boost international trade, and help the UK thrive as an outward-looking trading nation by adding 40 new long-haul destinations.
Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan MP said:
“I encourage local residents to look at these proposals and add their views to the consultation before 25 May. Constituents in Chesham and Amersham benefit from good links to Heathrow, and in addition many of them work either at the airport or in businesses based nearby.” ??its close proximity offers important employment opportunities. ??
Heathrow Executive Director for Expansion Emma Gilthorpe said:
“The launch of the Government’s national policy statement consultation is an important milestone in the delivery of Heathrow’s expansion plans. We look forward to working with the Government, our local communities and our airlines throughout this consultation period to ensure Heathrow expansion is affordable and benefits all of Britain.”
