The constituency is located in the heart of Buckinghamshire. It comprises the large towns of Chesham and Amersham as well as many other villages. The constituency is within the Metropolitan Green Belt and also falls within part of the Chilterns Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty.
There are transport links connecting the area to central London via the Metropolitan line of London Underground and the London to Aylesbury Line operated by Chiltern Railways. The constituency is also close to the M40 and M25 Motorways.
The area was formerly part of the larger South Buckinghamshire constituency before boundary changes came into effect for the 1974 General Elections. The constituency broadly follows that of the Chiltern Local Government District boundaries.
The constituency has always been solidly Conservative and at the 2017 election Cheryl won a majority of over 22,000 and 60% of the vote.
