Abortion in Northern Ireland

Many constituents have contacted me with concerns about abortion law in Northern Ireland. There have been a number of cases recently that have highlighted how the abortion law in Northern Ireland is different to the rest of the UK.

Wildlife Cybercrime

Many people have contacted me about the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) campaign on wildlife crime committed over the internet.

Many people have contacted me recently about rivers and environmental standards. My local rivers are very important to me because they are chalk streams which are of great importance.

Aleppo, Syria

The scenes from Aleppo are distressing, and the levels of violence within the Syrian regime makes political transition difficult. However, the Government is continuing its efforts to persuade both sides to agree to a ceasefire and work towards a political solution.

Badger Cull

Bovine TB is the greatest animal health threat to the UK and causes devastation and distress for farmers and rural communities across the country. Dealing with it is costing taxpayers £100 million each year.

Dear Constituents,

A number of you have contacted me with concerns about the academisation of schools. As a former education Minister, I am too very interested in the outcome of the new educational policies.

Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP)

A number of constituents have contacted me with concerns about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the possible implications for the NHS.

I can assure you the Government is committed to an NHS that is there for everyone who needs it, funded from general taxation and free at the point of use. TTIP will not affect how the NHS decides who is best to provide its services.
